There comes a time in one's life when it's time to just pack everything in and liquidate your office. Perhaps your company is downsizing, or moving to another location and getting different office furniture, or you're retiring and/or going out of business. Who do you call, particularly if you have some really nice wooden office furniture, file cabinets, or other attractive and durable office furniture in good condition? What Kinds of Office Furniture are You Looking For? We Buy Used Office Furniture that is in good condition - that means the less scratches and blemishes the better. Also, we tend to buy in fairly large lots, usually whole offices, rather than out of homes - however, we can buy out of homes if you have a nice wooden desk, wooden file cabinet, flat file, or safe. We also buy wooden desks and wooden office furniture that is 50 or more years old - the key here being good quality and good condition.
My Office Furniture is Located Out of State - Will You Still Buy It? Since we are not a national chain store, all our business is done locally - meaning the Chicago and Chicagoland area - Granted, we will drive if the drive is warranted, to as far as an hour and a half away. We only buy used office furniture in the Chicago, Illinois area - including Skokie, Morton Grove, Northbrook, Deerfield, Glenview, Glencoe, Wilmette, Des Plaines, Schaumburg, etc. If you're calling from New York or L.A. and want us to liquidate your office furnishings, unless your office furniture is located in the Chicago area, you're going to need to call someone else.
Does Durability Matter? We take great pride in selling the best used office furniture that we can get our hands on. That means selling used desks and file cabinets that are well made, not the "tin can" or "put-together pressboard" - type furniture selling in today's office furniture chain stores. So that's what we're looking for - desks and files that have a little "meat" on their bones. Quality names to look for include Steelcase, Allsteel, Herman Miller, Invincible, Hon, Paoli, National, Bevis, GF or General Fireproofing, Artoflex, and others.
Is Color and Decorative Value a Factor? Don't Forget Folks, some of us like to decorate! That means that color and style play a part as well. We buy wood office furniture in the following colors - cherry, mahogany, walnut and oak - in that order. When it comes to metal furniture, beige, or putty, is the most desirable, followed by light gray and black. Battleship grey, older office furniture is not as desirable, but may be acceptable. Army-color green is definitely out and is considered the bottom of the barrel, color-wise, in office furniture. And don't forget - we also buy leather sofas, and nice waiting room furniture as well.
What if I Have Only One or Two of Each Piece of Office Furniture? As you might guess, Onesie - Twosies in office furniture are not as desirable. Unless we're talking about wood office furniture, having sets of identical office desks, file cabinets, chairs and lateral files, is much better for us as office furniture liquidators. It's just plain easier to sell that way, rather than having a warehouse full of rag-tag, unmatched office furniture. Makes sense, doesn't it?

If he likes what he sees, a deal may be made, and a date set. John S. will usually tell you what he will take and what he will not take - don't assume we will take everything - and then set up a time for pick-up. Our men will come and pick up the furniture around that time. Make sure to check if your building has any insurance requirements, or special freight elevator times well before your pick-up.
